ITHACA, NY. GrammaTech, a leading developer of software-assurance tools and advanced cyber-security solutions, was recently recognized in CIOReview’s list of 20 Most Promising Defense Technology Solution Providers of the year for 2017.

The list of companies was selected by a panel of experts and members of CIO Review’s editorial board; GrammaTech was selected based on their recent advancements in Cyber Hardening Services, utilizing concepts first introduced in their showing at the DARPA Cyber Grand Challenge. GrammaTech’s Cyber Hardening technology works on applications in binary form and prevents latent software defects from being exploitable. This protects third-party and in-house-developed applications from exploitation of known, or future and yet-unknown vulnerabilities.

The state of the nation is that software development teams are investing significant amounts of time and dollars to make software more secure, but many applications are still vulnerable when deployed, due to latent defects in the code that can be exploited by hackers. The Cisco 2017 Security Capabilities Benchmark Study found that nearly a quarter of the organizations surveyed that have suffered an attack lost business opportunities. New cyber-security exploits are still posted daily, and Chief Security Officers and their teams are struggling to keep up.

“GrammaTech’s Cyber Hardening technology protects applications against vulnerabilities like the Heartbleed vulnerability (CVE-2014-0160) which cost the industry multiple hundreds of millions of dollars and many other defects caused by common programming mistakes,” said Tim Teitelbaum, CEO of GrammaTech. “This is a ground-breaking new capability for security professionals as it allows them to protect their applications in binary form in a very short time span without having to go back to the software vendor or the source code.”

Security teams that have to assess, deploy and manage applications in operational environments looking for more information on GrammaTech’s cyber-hardening capabilities can explore GrammaTech’s Cyber Hardening data sheet for more information.
