Ada-ASSURED 3.1 Release Notes

Introduction

GrammaTech, Inc. is pleased to announce Ada-ASSURED 3.1, released today. This release contains a number of improvements over Ada-ASSURED 3.0. This document describes these improvements.

New Features

New Scripting Language Opens AA Architecture

Ada-ASSURED's new Scheme-based scripting language enables you to tailor Ada-ASSURED for your projects better than ever. Now you can customize menus and create your own templates. For example, you can create your own context-sensitive code skeleton templates or custom header templates and add them to the Ada-ASSURED menus.

New Optional Batch Processing Module (BPM)

The Batch Processing Module is a new line item. It is designed to enable users to process large volumes of existing code through Ada-ASSURED for style enforcement and code transformations. In this way Ada-ASSURED can be used as a quality assurance ``check-in'' tool, as an industrial strength pretty printer, or to transform existing code to meet a project's style guidelines. Used in conjunction with the new scripting language, the BPM opens up a world of new opportunities for creating custom code transformation and analysis tools.

The Batch Processing Module can be purchased as a stand-alone tool. Alternatively, one BPM license is included with Ada-ASSURED at no charge for each five Ada-ASSURED licenses a customer purchases.

Integrated with Cadre Teamwork

Teamwork users can now navigate from ASG components to the corresponding Ada code using Ada-ASSURED. Deeper integration is planned for future releases.

New FastEdit Mode

Ada-ASSURED 3.1 includes a new text edit mode that works similarly to Emacs, but with all of Ada-ASSURED's powerful style enforcement, syntax checking and pretty printing features available on-demand.

Ada-ASSURED reads code much faster in this mode because it doesn't analyze the code until the user wants to.

Users can easily switch to full-power AutoEdit mode at any time. AutoEdit mode checks syntax errors and formats code dynamically, as it is being typed in, and includes structural editing features for additional productivity and more precise editing control.

HyperText Documentation

Ada-ASSURED 3.1 includes HyperText links from error and style violation messages directly to the Ada Language Reference Manual and the SPC Ada Quality and Style Guidelines. Custom links to project documentation can be added.

This feature provides immediate feedback for engineers so they can easily correct their errors and meet their company's style requirements.

Improved User Interface

Motif windows and menus have been simplified and spiffied up, so they're easier to use.

Plus the usual bug fixes and minor improvements.
