GrammaTech and University of Wisconsin Researcher Awarded DARPA Research Contract to Develop A Framework for Aspect-Oriented Programming

Ithaca, NY -- GrammaTech, Inc. announced today that it has been awarded a $98,999 Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) Program Phase I contract by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). Upon completion of this nine-month contract, GrammaTech will be eligible to compete for up to $450,000 in Phase II STTR funding. Under terms of the agreement, GrammaTech and University of Wisconsin Professor Susan Horwitz will design a framework for Aspect-Oriented Programming (AOP) of embedded systems.

GrammaTech and Professor Horwitz will use their expertise in the area of advanced static program analysis to develop a framework for AOP. AOP allows software developers to specify cross-cutting properties of software systems in a single abstraction. This improves the modularity of the source code, enhances productivity, and reduces the associated maintenance costs.
