At GrammaTech, you will perform cutting-edge research in the automated software analysis domain, frequently as Principal Investigator. You'll be there for every step of the process, from initial proposal through final delivery.

You

Are ready to lead a small research team — or ready to learn to.
Have done primary research in a field aligned with GrammaTech's research activities, and are excited to do more.
Want to work in an informal, collegial atmosphere.
Prefer that publishing be an opportunity, not a requirement.

Make static-analysis tools that are used worldwide by startups, Fortune 500 companies, educational institutions, and government agencies.
Have a research arm that explores new horizons in software analysis, and a product arm that brings the research to market.
Have Cornell University just up the hill, and collaborate with other universities too.
Are software experts. All the way to the top of the company.
Are bootstrapped from a two-person start-up...in 1988.
Don't expect (or even want) staff to work more than 40 hours a week.

Qualifications: the details

Ph.D. in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Software Engineering.
Research experience in compilers, static analysis, language-based security, or another field aligned with GrammaTech's research activities. Maybe your area of expertise is reverse engineering, or vulnerability detection, or code rewriting. On the other hand, maybe you will be adding a new area of expertise to our team.
Lots of languages: C, C++, Java, machine code, etc. It's not just about our own code, it's about taking other people's software apart and showing them what makes it tick.
