Installation: Initial Test

Invoke Ada-ASSURED by choosing Programs/Ada-ASSURED from the Start menu

A window labelled Ada-ASSURED - [aa95:*untitled*] (where aa95 could be aa83) should appear on your screen. Check the following to make sure the installation is correct.

If no such window appears, something is wrong. If you get an error message indicating that the license file contains invalid data, then the key in the license file might be incorrect.
If an error message indicates that permission is denied due to some other licensing difficulties, you should re-check the steps Installing Ada-ASSURED and License Management.
If a window titled Ada-ASSURED - [aa95:*untitled*] does appear, select Tutorial from the Help menu. The first hypertext document of the Ada-ASSURED on-line tutorial should appear in your HTML viewer. If the viewer does not appear, or if the Tutorial is not found, something is wrong. Internet Explorer or Netscape may need to be installed.
If you are seated at a color monitor, open the file aahome/AdaSamples/terminal_io.style by selecting Open from the File menu. The violation messages (comments beginning with --VIOLATION--) should be red.

Exit Ada-ASSURED by selecting exit from the File menu.

Summary

You have now completed the general installation procedure. Each new user at your site should follow the instructions in the User Guide & Reference Manual, when he/she is ready to begin using Ada-ASSURED. These instructions are written for new users and presume no knowledge of the steps you have just performed.

You must make sure that each end-user is configured to run Ada-ASSURED. Appendix D in the User Guide & Reference Manual contains an installation checklist that each end-user can perform to verify for themselves that Ada-ASSURED is installed properly.

Below is a summary of the requirements necessary to run Ada-ASSURED.

Internet Explorer or Netscape must be installed.
The FLEXlm license manager must have access to the file that contains your site's license keys.
Ada-ASSURED must have access to a file that defines the values of the style enforcement parameters.
