Bypass all resting places contained within the current structural selection and advance to the next sibling in a forward preorder traversal of the abstract-syntax tree. If there is no next sibling, ascend to the enclosing resting place and advance to its next sibling, etc. Do not stop at placeholders for optional constituents.
